The Problem

Their current website is a bare, non-functional single page.

When I moved to Atlanta, I was turned onto a local band named Wowser Bowser. Funny enough, I ended up becoming the roommate of a few of the band members, so for my project, I decided to redesign their website. The guys needed a proper space to promote and grow their record company. Facebook and Soundcloud we’re only getting them so far.

First, I simplified their identity. Next, I aimed to give them a lively, contemporary aesthetic, while keeping user’s needs in mind. Features like news updates, tour dates with ticket purchasing options, and a twitter feed immediately get the user to vital information. Additionally, the users can get to know the bands better through photos, videos, and song clips.

As a group assignment, I created the visual design and plan and then Britany Ponvelle did the front-end development. For this website HTML5, CSS3, web typography, and javascript were used.

Implementation

See our redesign below.

The homepage shows recent activity with the latest tweets, news and upcoming tour dates so the user can quickly get to the most relevant information.

The artist page highlights they’re bands and features a call to action for musicians looking for recording information.

Each band page features their discography along with latest news, tour dates, and media with “view all” links directing the user to the full lists.

When the user selects an album, they can listen to songs or clips right on the site, instead of being redirected to Soundclound.
