The Concept

High Fidelity is a story of music and one man’s journey through relationships. The film centered around a record store owner in Chicago in the 1990’s this book incorporates grungy imagery and two typefaces indicative of the time period and genre, Futura and Caecilia. The characters in this film are distinctive and often clash, so each character has a specific font. Their dialogue begins in a different column so conversations often overlap. Music plays a large part in this film, as illustrated by the expressive lyrics in the backgrounds. Breaking the fourth wall is also seen throughout this film, so a yellow background indicates when the main character, Rob, is in monologue or narration. The book uses a yellow spot color to emphasize the tension and toxicity between the characters in this film. The shift to blue at the end of the book represents the resolution.
